Wedding Photography Locations in Utah - April 8, 2009My favorite locations to take pictures for wedding clients here in Utah is Thanksgiving Point in Lehi, Wadley Farms in Lindon, Sherwood Hills Resort up Logan Canyon, and the Salt Lake Temple in downtown Salt Lake City. I have had fun taking engagement photos and bridal photos down old downtown Provo, the Utah State Mental Hospital in Provo, and again, Thanksgiving Point in Lehi.

Investing in an Educated and Experienced Photographer - April 8, 2009I feel that investing in an experienced and educated photographer is worth its weight in gold. With the wonderful revolution of the digital camera has come an over saturation of photographers, especially here in Utah. A lot of photographers today figure that with a digital camera they can look at the shot right after they have taken it and if it is not right they can delete and try again. You as the bride and groom don't want this type of photographer 'experimenting' or 'learning' on the most important day of your life. I have come across multiple situations where the photographer is someone with a decent camera but has no technical knowledge necessary to effectively run the equipment. I had a brother-in-law hire such a photographer for only $100. Sounds like a great deal until the photographer never showed up for the wedding. Be weary of the low priced photographers. They are low priced for a reason. I know another photographer trying to get into the industry for a three month period continue to ask me how to run his camera. I was flattered at first but quickly became irritated and told him that he needs to take classes if he didn't know the basic stuff he was asking. With the digital world of cameras and Photoshop it is not hard to get a couple of good images. The technical side of photography is in most cases more important to know and understand before the artistic side. Having a strong technical knowledge allows you creative freedom. I have always strongly believed in the saying 'You get what you pay for'.
